Marylanders stand a 33 percent chance of getting the lowest average refund this tax season.
Bettors expect New Yorkers, though, to have the greatest chance - 67 percent - of getting the lowest refunds. Connecticut isn't far behind with odds of 60 percent.
There's an 86 percent chance that the average tax refund this year will be higher than the $2,683 average of last year.
A year ago, nearly 10 million tax returns were late and these taxpayers owed more than $103 billion. There's an 83 percent likelihood that the dollar amount will be higher this year.
And the odds - 67 percent - are that electronically filed returns will be 3 million to 5 million higher than last year, when a record 90 million returns were e-filed.
