NFL suspensions could help Ravens

The Ravens get a scheduling advantage by playing the New York Jets in Week 1 and the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 4, which will allow them to get around playing Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes and perhaps Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Holmes, who was traded from the Steelers, won't make his Jets regular-season debut until Week 5 of the regular season after the NFL suspended him without pay for the first four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

Roethlisberger is expected to receive some disciplinary action from the NFL as a result of the recent sexual assault investigation in Milledgeville, Ga. It is unknown when the league will make an announcement, but a four-game suspension would sit Roethlisberger for the first meeting with the Ravens.
