E.J. Morton-Green, a wide receiver from Morgan State, was among seven local college players who worked out for the Ravens at their Owings Mills complex Wednesday. It was the second stop on a three-day tour for Morton-Green. He visited the Bengals in his hometown Cincinnati on Tuesday.
Despite a low-profile college career (he spent two years at Miami of Ohio before transferring to Morgan), Morton-Green has caught the attention of NFL scouts because of his size (6-3, 208 pounds) and speed. He ran a 4.37-second 40-yard dash a year ago at Morgan for the Eagles, and they'll be back to look at him again Thursday on the Morgan campus.
Another team that has expressed interest is the Giants, although they did not plan to work him out. It was the Bengals, though, who have shown the most interest. They had him at their complex all day on Tuesday.
Morton-Green ran a 4.47 at his pro day at Morgan, and a 4.48 for the Ravens. He caught passes from new quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn on Wednesday.
"I wouldn't want to say I was satisfied," Morton-Green said. "I went out and I went hard. I feel good about that. I'm just grateful for the chance."
He has a vertical jump of 37 1/2 inches and a broad jump of 10 feet, 6 inches.
Also participating in Tuesday's local workout with the Ravens from Morgan State were defensive end Justin Lawrence and safety Jody Ellis.
Morton-Green had 24 catches for 324 yards last season for the Bears, including 16 catches in the final four games. It's unlikely he would get drafted by the Ravens – who have only five picks. The Bengals, meanwhile, will have five picks on the final day of the draft.
"I just want the opportunity to playin the NFL," Morton-Green said. "I don't care how I get there,drafted or undrafted. I just want to play at the highest level."
