So I was not all that surprised to learn that Krista, Anslee, Angelea, and Alasia didn’t care too much for the “needy” contestants remaining on the show: Jessica, Raina, and Brenda.
“I would like to have a relationship with all the girls in the house, but Angelea is not in the cards,” Raiana said during a confessional.
Clearly the show was building to a major showdown. The main questions were: when would it happen, and would it play a pivotal role in a contestant’s elimination?
After listening to Ann, the girls got a chance to comb through the Seventeen magazine closet to find an appropriate outfit. After getting critiqued, the girls learned that they got to keep the outfit that they assembled, which drew plenty of cheers from the hopefuls.
The good vibes quickly disappeared in the limo ride back to the loft. Jessica snapped at Alasia and essentially told her to shut up. Alasia went on a tear and screamed Jessica quiet.
After the commercial break, Brenda and Angelea got into a shouting match after Brenda said that Angelea was "uneducated." Angelea quickly pointed out that she went to college, and then proceeded to call Brenda names.
Back at the loft Raina, Brenda, and Jessica talked about their hopes for their rivals to throw a punch at them so that the producers would step in and send them home. Angelea walked in and talked to the girls. It resulted in a brief argument between Brenda and Angelea.
A modeling invitation by Tinsley Mortimer brightened the contestants' moods. Mortimer, "star" of the show High Society wanted the girls to model her line of handbags. (I suspect that her handbag sales and ratings for her show are in the toilets. Time for a little product placement.)
The girls quickly get changed into their party clothes and head to Tinsley's party. Mr. Jay Manuel meets them at the entrance. He quickly challenges them to have one-on-one time with Tinsley. They must talk to her and show off their overall style, and personality.
To prep for Mortimer, the girls work the room talking to fashion industry insiders. Alasia laments that she doesn't know what to say — thus she stands around talking to Mr. Jay and Miss J.
Jessica had a great personality, according to Tinsley. Alasia was a little fidgety, Tinsley said.
Jessica won the challenge. As a result she was allowed to chose two of her friends — Raina and Brenda — to join her in a fashion shoot for an issue of Seventeen Magazine.
After the photo shoot, the drama ensues. Alasia listens to Raina's confessional where she trashes her. After Raina got done, she listened to Alasia's confessional along with Jessica and Brenda. Then, Raina had the nerve to say that Alasia's confessional "freaked her out." (Raina has now become one of the most fake people on the show.)
After the commercial break, the girls go to their first Covergirl commercial shoot. Last season's winner, Nicole, photographer Mike Ruiz, and Mr. Jay all greet the girls. The girls are remade into being "New York women."
Krista was an aspiring actress. (The judges loved it. Andre Leon Talley said she was gorgeous.) Alexandra was an upper east sider. (Mr. Jay chided her about breathing during the shoot. The judges said it was her best shoot.) Anslee was an artist. (Nigel Barker said that her photo showed an intelligence.) Raina was an east village rockabilly. (The judges loved her face. Tyra told her to work on her neck.) Jessica was a clubgoer. (Nigel said she looked a little lost.) Angelea was a fashionista. (Mr. Jay said that this was her best photo shoot by far. The judges gushed over her photo. ) Brenda was a student. (Mr. Jay said that she looked too mature. Nigel said it looked too contrived.) Alasia was a model on a go-see. (Mr. Jay said he probably couldn't use any of her photos because she was giggling throughout her shoot. The judges didn't like her photo at all.)
Angelea was judged best photo of the week. She was followed by Krista, Raina, Alexandra, Anslee, and Jessica. Brenda and Alsaia were in the bottom two.
Tyra told Brenda that she was a fighter. She also said that she had a lack of a fire and desire. (That totally doesn't make sense, Tyra.) Tyra said that Alasia didn't hold on to her strength — dance — in her photo. As a result, Alasia's photo looked like nothing, according to Tyra.
Brenda was sent home. Brenda, who has always seemed to have an extremely high sense of self, said she was shocked to be sent home. She also took the opportunity to say that she was surprised Angelea took such a good photo. "Her character was kind of snobbish and that was easy for her to do," Brenda said to the confessional. (Wow! Sour grapes!)
She added that she was excited to see her little girl and that she was very proud of herself. (I wonder if she'll e proud of the way she acted on the show once she watches the episodes?)
