Wide receiver Derrick Mason, who re-signed with the Ravens last month, will address the media for the first time about his return to the team in a Wednesday press conference.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh has since said he wasn't totally sure that the team would be able to retain Mason in free agency. Mason eventually signed a two-year, $8 million contract.
"I would say it was touch-and-go because anytime a guy goes into free agency. You just never know," Harbaugh said. "I was confident that he would be back because he told me that he wanted to be back, and I told him that we wanted him back. We both knew that we could get a deal done."
Harbaugh added, "I think he was interested, just like Ray [Lewis] last year, to see what was available. But by the same token, in his heart, it would have been hard for him to leave. And Ozzie [Newsome, general manager] came through with a really strong contract, a two-year deal that he wanted."
