NFL draft notes as they relate to the Terps;
*Cornerback Nolan Carroll was picked in the fifth round (145th overall) by the Miami Dolphins. I think Carroll can make it in the league. He's got the right size (6 feet 1, 202 pounds) and can catch the ball (he's a former receiver).
Just as important is his attitude. He was elected a team captain before breaking his leg early in the season. Coaches adored him. They had counted on him to play man-to-man coverage and protect the secondary when Maryland's frequent blitzes failed to get to the quarterback. He is from Florida, by the way, where his mother is the first black female Republican elected to the Florida House of Representatives.
*Offensive tackle Bruce Campbell was picked by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round (106th overall). He's got the size and skill to succeed. His career also included injuries and inconsistency. He joins fellow Terp Darrius Heyward-Bey, the wide receiver picked by the Raiders last season.
*Defensive back Terrell Skinner and running back Cory Jackson were not drafted.
