Jeremy Guthrie walked Matt Joyce to open the second inning, but Matt Wieters eventually removed Joyce from the bases with a perfect strike to second base to catch him trying to steal.
Guthrie struck out the final two batters of the inning and is done for the day. He.gave up a hit and a walk in his two innings of work and threw 33 pitches, 22 of them for strikes.
Not much going on offensively for the Orioles so far. Adam Jones led off the first with a walk, but Rays starter James Shields has not given up a hit through the first two innings. He also walked Luke Scott, but Garrett Atkins grounded into a double play in his first at-bat of the exhibition season.
