For the third time in less than three months, the agent for backup quarterback Troy Smith has publicly let it be known that the Ravens backup quarterback wants to be elsewhere.
On Sunday, agent Ralph Cindrich said Smith specifically wants to go to the Cleveland Browns.
"He would crawl from Baltimore right now to be able to play in Cleveland," Cindrich told the Canton Repository last weekend. "That's clearly where his heart is. That's where his love is. He has a great relationship in Baltimore and with the fans as long as I don't muck it up too much. He has a great relationship with [Ravens general manager] Ozzie Newsome.
"It's just that this is where home is. In the offseason, he tells me, 'Get me home.'"
Asked about Troy Smith on Monday, Newsome said, "I don't discuss things like that."
The Ravens used a fifth-round tender on Smith, a restricted free agent. Coincidentally, the Browns have four fifth-round picks, so they have no excuses not to go after Smith if they want him.
