As the regular season ended this weekend, we closed the book on the season for some our Baltimore-area basketball players, while others moved on to their conference tournaments. For those who have played their last game this year, we offer congratulations, and we bid adieu to the seniors who have taken the court for the last time on the college level. And to those for whom the season continues, we wish the best of luck.
This week's top five men's performers are a group of gentlemen who have produced consistently all season, all of them being recognized here at The Next Level multiple times. Massachusetts senior guard Ricky Harris (Calvert Hall) had two of the best games of his season in leading the Minutemen to a berth in the Atlantic 10 tournament. In two games, Harris averaged 29.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals.
Senior guard Reggie Holmes helped Morgan State close out a nearly flawless Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference season with a pair of victories. In the two contests, Holmes recorded 34.0 points per game, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals, shooting a combined 23-for-39 from the field, including an impressive 15-for-24 from beyond the 3-point arc.
New Mexico State's Jahmar Young (Du Bois) averaged 19.5 points and 8.0 assists over two games. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Kevin Palmer (Parkville) put up averages of 27.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in two contests. Finally, Virginia Tech's Malcolm Delaney (Towson Catholic) recorded 26.5 points per game and 5.5 assists in a pair of contests.
