Students collect pennies to save pets' lives

Sixth grader Marquis Reddick receives a kiss from Dru, a 5-year-old Yorkshire terrier belonging to Longfellow Middle School assistant principal Teresa Florez, who's holding dog, on Friday in Lorain, Ohio. Six-graders at the school participated in the Pennies for Pets project, where students donate pennies to gather the $30 required to save a pet from being euthanized.

In the last year, students have saved five dogs, who then were adopted.
