Animal lovers are cheering one university's decision to stop using live animals in their practice surgeries.
Michigan State University had a long practice of using the dogs in its veterinary program and then euthanizing the animals. But according to this report, that's over as of this fall.
The school joins most of the nation's vet programs in banning the procedures.
The school will now use cadavers and models.
About 140 dogs dies in the program last year, the school told the Detroit Free-Press.
