WTMD's Morning Sessions: Beach House's ageless reverie

Hometown: Baltimore
Sound: Intoxicating keyboards and guitars coupled with husky, assured vocals that create candy-coated psychedelia with a dark edge
Fact: Legrand sings on Grizzly Bear's hit "Two Weeks" and their track "Slow Life" from the "Twilight: New Moon" soundtrack.
Project: Teen Dream, their third album and first on Sub Pop, is out now.

ON PROLONGED ADOLESCENCE
"Not in the literal sense. ... A lot of us have it our whole lives but we maybe repress it because it's not appropriate or it's irrational," Legrand says. "But that irrational energy is part of the teen dream. The song 'Silver Soul' has dark obsession, longing, sexuality. These are things that we all feel. [And] that song has a real force to me."

BALTIMORE'S FREE-SPIRITED AIR
"No other city on the East Coast is like it. What I feel like when I'm in Baltimore is that nobody cares what they think of them," Scally says. "People walk around the street and nobody cares what you think of them! It's awesome. And it's totally the same way with the arts scene. I think people can just do what they want and get obsessed with what they're doing, and not really care what the nation thinks."
