Jeremy Guthrie just threw the first pitch of the exhibition season to Jason Bartlett and -- two pitches later -- Bartlett hit the first ground ball to Miguel Tejada at third. He didn't exactly look like Scott Rolen on the play, but he went to his left and fielded the ball cleanly, then spun a bit awkwardly and threw to first to record the out on a close play.
"I wanted to get a ball and get it out of the way,'' Tejada said after he left the game. "I was excited to make that play. It felt great. I know I can play any position if I work hard enough."
The next batter, Dioner Navarro followed with a soft pop fly over Tejada's head for a single, but Miggi had not chance to get to it.
Guthrie got a couple of fly balls to complete the inning, throwing 17 pitches -- 13 of them for strikes.
