Orioles: Morning briefing

The Orioles will hold their first and only intrasquad game of the spring today at 1:05. Chris Tillman and Jake Arrieta will start for the respective squads, but it's going to be a pitcher for each half inning for seven innings. The Orioles have turned the game into a charity event and will ask for a small donation to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Sarasota at the gate.

Brad Bergesen is going to expand his repertoire in today's bullpen session. He threw 30 pitches -- all fastballs -- the first time he took the mound this spring. He expects to throw 40-45 today and start working with the rest of his pitches.

"Everything's good,'' he said. "I felt good the next day after my first bullpen. I'm going to start spinning some stuff today."

ESPN basketball guru Dick Vitale is hosting a party for the Orioles tonight at his Sarasota home. Vitale is a long-time Sarasota resident and is a huge baseball fan. He bought season tickets for the Orioles' spring games at Ed Smith Stadium soon after they went on sale.
