Brian Roberts said in an Orioles video clip -- which is currently posted on the Sun Web site -- that he will miss at least the first week of the exhibition season while he continues to rehab his sore back.
"I would say the first week for sure,'' he said. "Probably the first week and then maybe in a week to 10 days maybe get into some games."
That's about as specific as Roberts has gotten about his timetable since he revealed that he had suffered a mild herniation in his lower back in the weeks leading up to training camp. He is taking part in most activities.
"I think we're certainly making progress," he said. "It's going to be a little bit slower than I would like, but hopefully I'll be ready to go for Opening Day."
Yes, that would be nice.
