*I wrote in my game story that Michigan State guard Korie Lucious is destined to live in Maryland basketball infamy for hitting that buzzer beater.
Maybe Lucious, a sophomore, will go down as the anti-Drew Nicholas. You ever hear the Washinton Wizards' announcer Steve Buckhantz yell "Dagger!" after a clutch shot? That's what Lucious delivered.
You all can give me your impressions of the game-winner. Down by one point with six seconds left, you wouldn't have expected the Spartans to rely on a 3-pointer. But Lucious got a pretty clean look at the basket. Landon Millbourne extended the back of his left arm toward Lucious, but the shooter was relatively open. I was looking at a photo, by the way, that shows the ball high in the air with 0.4 seconds on the clock. So he must have released it at about 0.6 or 0.7.
Did you notice the Terps trying to cobble together a lineup to curb Michigan State's rebounding advantage? The Terps tried Sean Mosley at the "4," among other tactics.
But how about Greivis Vasquez scoring 10 points in the game's final two points? Say this about Maryland's seniors -- they went out hard. Vasquez, Milbourne and Eric Hayes each scored in double digits.
