ABC News shows home video of Jaycee Dugard

ABC News Friday showed a fascinating home video from the family of Jaycee Dugard, the 29-year-old woman who was kidnapped when she was 11 and held in captivity for 18 years before being freed.

Beyond the powerful personal story of Dugard, I also think there is a media story here about the home video and how the family is going public with it in part to ask for privacy. In one sense, it seems like it might be a contradiction. But when you hear it from Dugard's mother on the tape, it sounds like a reasonable request and a sound plan.

What do you think? Does it make sense to release such a tape knowing it will be seen by millions in an effort to secure privacy? Check it out in the context that it appeared on GMA:
