What a week for C-SPAN. As Washington goes wall-to-wall crazy in hand-to-hand combat over one of the great legislative showdowns of our lifetimes, C- SPAN has been rocking around the clock in a blaze of public affairs glory. I thought the late night committee battles and weekend holiday votes in December showed C-SPAN at its best, but it was mere prelude to the health care finale playing out this week.
A back injury sent me to the ER Monday night, and I have been in too much pain to sleep more than an hour since. But don't weep for me, I have C-SPAN to keep me company. And I am once again amazed by what a terrific job C-SPAN radio and TV do on the big stories.
If you missed today's events while at work, and you get home too tired and late to deal with evening network news or cable partisan madness, just turn on C-SPAN radio when you lay down to read, and it will take you on a trip back through the day with the voices of the major players sounding in your ears until you think you are in the House gallery or among those wildly cheering supporters of President Obama at his rally Monday in Ohio. The president was on fire, and the cameras loved it.
