Contestants visit home on 'The Biggest Loser'

John-John reports on last night's Biggest Loser:

The contestants got an opportunity to return home to their families, which many loyal fans know is a mixed blessing.

Sure the contestants are eager to reconnect with their loved ones, but they also know that a return to familiar surroundings could bring about the same bad habits that led them to the show in the first place.

The seven-day stay was not without a catch. The contestants were tasked with a bicycle challenge. The winner of the challenge, Koli, received $10,000.

I could sense a little bit of foreshadowing when the cameras spent some time on Lance lamenting about missing home. (Be careful what you wish for …)

Going into the final weigh in, the blue team was extremely cocky. It was hard to blame them. After all, the blue team was coming off of two straight victories in the weigh in.

I have to admit, the blue team members were posting pretty big numbers. Daris, who continues to bug me with that curly mop on the top of his head, only lost four pounds. But it seemed that the rest of the team would carry his mediocre weight loss again.

Then it was the black team’s turn. Team member after team member put up superb numbers. Andrea started things off by losing six pounds. Stephanie lost nine pounds. Ashley lost 10 pounds. The blue team and its trainer, Bob, looked super nervous. Sam continued his amazing transformation and dropped 14 pounds. The black team lost a total percentage of 3.86, which rocked the blue team’s 2.56 weight loss percentage average.

The blue team was tasked to eliminate a team member. Sunshine was safe because she posted the greatest weight loss percentage. Daris should have been sent packing. Instead, the majority of the team voted to send home Lance. As usual, Michael let the tears flow. (Is he vying for some commercial for Kleenex after the competition is over?)

Lance seemed to take the elimination in stride. We all knew he was itching to return home to his wife and kids. And he had lost a considerable amount of weight up to this point. It was time for him to go.

In the update, Lance said that he’s lost 100 pounds. He said that he’s been riding a bike, taking hikes with his son, and working out in a home gym.

His wife, Melissa, is also interviewed from the neck up. (I don’t think the producers wanted the audience to see how much more weight she’s lost since she was eliminated.) Her face looks fantastic. (It pains me to type that because she was such a toxic personality on the show.) She looks as if she has lost even more weight in the face at least. It should be interesting to see the couple during the season finale.
