We usually have so much love for "Big Love" that we don't want a season to end. Yeah, this time — not so much. While starting out strong, Season 4 has become pretty unbearable, overstuffed with subplots. What could have been a provocative look at Bill's risky state senate campaign ended up being a jumble of confusing stuff: Nicki's daughter, Nicki's ex, Nicki's reproductive abilities, Sarah's marriage, Mexican bird smuggling, American Indian-Mormon relations and .... ugh, you get the idea. We're tired just writing about it. For every memorable moment (Alby's tryst with Dale), there was something absurd (again: Mexican. Bird. Smuggling.) Even usually reliable guest Sissy Spacek couldn't keep things grounded. Come on, "Big Love." You can do better than this.
The season finale of "Big Love" premieres on HBO Sunday, March 7.
