A month ago when Arthur lost Mookie, his cat of nearly 23 years, it was clear that people who lost pets not only needed a place to put some of that grief, other animal-lovers had a lot of potential to help ease the pain, just by understanding. So we're officially kicking of Endings, a new section on Unleashed where people who lose their pets can write about their loved furry one and how they're saying goodbye.
Monty just lost Boo, and wanted to write a little about his beloved kitty. In his own words:
Boo was in our family almost 12 years and touched our lives every day. He was a beautiful black kitty with
large yellow eyes. He was a Daddy's cat and liked to takes baths with me every night. Not
literally of course. Boo sat on a towel hamper next to me with soft towels on top.
Boo's favorite activity was to go in the backyard and sunbathe. He also shared my wife's office every day in his favorite cushioned chair. At lunchtime, sometimes he would share part of my wife's subway tuna
sandwich. He loved it.
Boo became sick in his eleventh year. We didn's suspect a bad illness until he started losing weight. He was diagnosed with kidney disease. He only lived a short few months, and at the end, when he had to go asleep, we were devastated.
We never realized how much he totally touched our lives till after he was gone. Everything we do in the house there is a void without our wonderful loving Boo.
Two days after Boo went to heaven I took pictures to Walgreens to blow up to 8x10's to hang on the walls. We couldn't bear not seeing him and it really helped. We talk to his pictures and still feel him with us. Some days are still hard, but we know Boo is in a better place.
P.S. We have his sister Cocoa who grew up with Boo.
