Ever wonder whether a sale is really a good price?
Wonder no more, or perhaps less frequently, with the help of PriceSpider.com, which I discovered via ConsumerWorld.org.
Search for a product using the model number or brand on the site, and PriceSpider aggregates reviews for you from Amazon and other Web sites.
But even more importantly, PriceSpider compiles a graph of the median and lowest selling prices for the last six months, so you can determine whether you're saving money on the deal.
I checked out the price of a best-selling Blu-Ray DVD player sold for $199 at a popular big-box retailer, and discovered ...
... that it was being sold for about $50 less by online retailers who weren't charging shipping or tax.
PriceSpider also totals the amount of tax and shipping you'll be charged by each store, which is a huge help. I find it really, really irritating when sites withhold that information until *after* you enter your credit card number. Frankly, if you set up your site so I can't easily compare prices, I'll often take my business elsewhere.
The only downside of PriceSpider seemed to be that not every product was listed --- it's a great option for electronics, and I found appliances, too, but not necessarily all goods.
