Jackson deserves chance in Oakland

The Ravens will miss quarterback coach Hue Jackson, who has become the Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator.

As the position coach, Jackson spent more time with second-year quarterback Joe Flacco than any other coach and had become a buffer and friend for Flacco between Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and head coach John Harbaugh when things weren't going well.

Of the three coaches, Jackson had the most level head when it came to tutoring Flacco.

It appears Jackson has become the head coach-in-waiting if things do not go well in Oakland for head coach Tom Cable. Jackson is a smart man, and he wouldn't have left the job security in Baltimore unless some promises were made in Oakland. The Raiders were impressed with the work Jackson had done with Flacco and Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer.

Regardless of what happens in Oakland, Jackson deserved the opportunity. He had paid his dues.
