Pryce returns to practice, T.Smith still absent

After sitting out Wednesday's practice due to illness, defensive end Trevor Pryce returned to practice at the team's facility in Owings Mills today. But backup quarterback Troy Smith (illness) was not present for the second consecutive day.

Starters who were limited Wednesday -- linebackers Ray Lewis (head), Jarret Johnson (left shoulder) and Tavares Gooden (head) and tight end Todd Heap (back) -- participated in practice.

Wide receiver Kelley Washington (groin) and defensive tackle Justin Bannan (left knee) also practiced.

*Wide receiver Demetrius Williams wore No. 81 during practice. New England Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss wears No. 81. Coincidence?

*Special teams assistant Marwan Maalouf ripped into safety Haruki Nakamura and wide receiver Eron Riley during the special-teams portion of practice. Maalouf berated Riley for not moving fast enough when Maalouf told the rookie to stand in as the gunner. And then Maalouf got on Nakamura's case for not bending low enough while trying to block Riley.

*Toronto Blue Jays designated hitter and former Oriole Kevin Millar watched practice from the sideline.
