Jon Gosselin reportedly tells TLC: Stop filming

"The Insider" is reporting Thursday morning that Jon Gosselin and his new lawyer have filed papers to stop cable channel TLC from filming any more episodes of "Jon & Kate Plus 8," the troubled reality show about the divorcing couple and their eight children.

According to the show business Web site, Jon has demanded that TLC "cease and desist" from filming and leave his property in Pennsylvania. TLC had announced Tuesday that Jon was off the show, and starting Nov. 1 it would be renamed "Kate Plus 8."

"The Insider" quotes Jon's attorney, Mark Jay Heller, as saying: "Jon realized his family was like a train wreck, so he decided to put the brakes on the divorce and on the show … because if he didn't the family would be in a mortal accident … the victims of a train wreck."

Did I not say the "end is near" for this show only an hour before the announcement Tuesday that Jon was out?

Whether or not production on their show is stopped through Jon's legal action, this series has reached the end of its run.

Monday's audience of 1.3 million continues one of the most remarkable patterns of audience loss in TV history. In June, the show had an audience of 10.6 million, and the skid has worsened since August as Kate was featured more and more with the kids -- minus Jon.

Jon will be on CNN's "Larry King Live" Thursday night, and I'll be posting afterward.
