The Single-A Frederick Keys were pounded by the Wilmington Blue Rocks, and the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds lost to the Lakewood BlueClaws.

The short-season Single-A Aberdeen IronBirds concluded the 2009 season with a shutout victory over the Tri-City ValleyCats.

Norfolk Tides (AAA)

Recap: First baseman Rhyne Hughes contributed two hits and he struck out once in the Tides' 3-2 loss to Durham.

Norfolk starting pitcher David Pauley allowed two runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings. The 26-year-old right-hander struck out eight batters and issued two walks.

Tides right fielder Ambiorix Concepcion contributed a triple, an RBI, a stolen base and a run scored, and third baseman Brandon Snyder was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Recap: The Baysox beat Harrisburg, 5-2, at Prince George's Stadium, but they were eliminated from playoff contention because the Reading Phillies also won today.

The Phillies are two games ahead of the Baysox in the Eastern League Southern Division, and there is only one game left for each team.

Bowie left fielder Tyler Henson hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning, and catcher Adam Donachie added a solo shot.

Baysox starting pitcher Steve Johnson (3-2) allowed one run and five hits in 6 2/3 innings, and relief pitcher Luis Lebron recorded the final out for his ninth save since being promoted to Double-A.

Third baseman Josh Bell contributed a pair of doubles, an RBI and a run scored for the Baysox, and second baseman Carlos Rojas was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Frederick Keys (A)

Recap: Starting pitcher Chorye Spoone (0-2) gave up six runs, six hits and three walks in two-plus innings as the Keys lost, 8-1, to Wilmington.

Keys relief pitcher Jake Stevens tossed three scoreless innings. The 24-year-old left-hander struck out two batters and issued two walks.

Shortstop Greg Miclat walked and scored a run for the Keys.
