The Triple-A Norfolk Tides conclude their road trip against the Charlotte Knights, and the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds wrap up their series against the Savannah Sand Gnats.
The Rookie-level Bluefield Orioles host the Bristol Sox at Bowen Field, while the Double-A Bowie Baysox, Single-A Frederick Keys and short-season Single-A Aberdeen IronBirds are all idle.
The Shorebirds placed infielder Tyler Kolodny on the disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 15, with an injury to his left wrist. No corresponding move was immediately announced.
With starting pitchers Radhames Liz and Troy Patton recently added to the disabled list for the Tides, the team added some extra help by signing 29-year-old left-hander Chris George from the Mexican League.
George was 1-0 with a 4.79 ERA in 12 appearances for the Pawtucket Red Sox earlier this season. The Kansas City Royals selected him with the 31st-overall pick in the 1998 MLB draft. He was 14-20 with a 6.48 ERA over parts of four seasons in the major leagues for the Royals from 2001-2004.
