It's time to quit the tricks with the kickers

OK, John Harbaugh, enough is enough. Stop threatening those young kickers with the possibility of the Ravens bringing back Matt Stover.

It's an old trick, and you have kept the pressure on rookie kicker Graham Gano and second-year kicker Steve Hauschka. Congratulations. You learned well from Bill Parcells and Bill Belichick.

But Hauschka has kicked well enough in training camp and through two preseason games to have pretty much earned the job. He sees through those veiled threats about Stover, too. I bet Stover is getting irked by now with you tossing his name around in vain.

Actually, he has earned more respect than what you're giving him right now. I think it's time to end the mind games. If Stover is in your plans, then sign him. If he isn't, then it's time to move on. Saves the games for Sunday, not for two young kids and one of the best kickers in NFL history. Stover deserves better.
