Hauschka going home (sort of)

When the Ravens travel to play against the Carolina Panthers this Saturday, Steve Hauschka returns to the state where he enjoyed some success as the primary kicker for North Carolina State for one season.

"I'II visit my brother about once or twice a year in Charlotte as he's a dentist down there," said Hauschka, a Massachusetts native who recorded the sixth-best kicking percentage in Wolfpack history when he converted 88.9 percent (16 of 18) in 2007. "So it does feel a little bit like home, especially if there are some Wolfpack fans there in the crowd."

Hauschka, who is locked in a battle with rookie Graham Gano for primary kicking duties with the Ravens, wasn't too sure whether he would get a warm reception from North Carolina fans.

"I don't know if they'll remember me that much," he said. "Hopefully, they're not too tough on me. I don't think they're going to be like those Boston fans or New York fans, but yeah, I think they'll be supportive."
