The Maryland quarterback knows he needs to work on arm strength and foot speed -- and he has been, at least to the extent possible. Obviously, some of these skills depend on what you're born with.
He says he can heave the football about 60 yards. Not sure how that rates exactly. You hear about NFL guys (or former ones such as John Elway and the soon-to-be-playing Michael Vick) throwing it much farther. But that's the NFL.
Bottom line is that most of the throws quarterbacks make aren't anywhere near 60 yards -- except the occasional bomb and the Hail Mary. What you need is zip on the short and moderate-deep passes to get the ball there before the cornerback/safety closes. You also like a quarterback with some touch.
Turner acknowledges he may not be the best at the Hail Mary. But he wants to take a firm look at the NFL next year.
