The Triple-A Norfolk Tides and Double-A Bowie Baysox both failed to score a run in shutout losses to the Buffalo Bisons and Trenton Thunder, respectively.

The game between the Single-A Frederick Keys and Salem Red Sox was rained out, while the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds beat the Lakewood BlueClaws.


Delmarva and Lakewood were scheduled to play a second game, but it was postponed due to rain. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 5:05 p.m.

Norfolk Tides (AAA)

Score: Buffalo Bisons 1, Norfolk Tides 0 (Box score)


Recap: Starting pitcher Chris Waters allowed two hits in four scoreless innings for the Tides before a rain delay forced him from the game.

The Bisons topped Norfolk, 1-0, after scoring an unearned run against Tides relief pitcher Ross Wolf (2-2) in the sixth inning. Wolf gave up two hits in three innings.

Pinch hitter Justin Christian smacked a double with one out in the ninth, but the Tides were unable to score him for the tying run. Norfolk center fielder Joey Gathright grounded out, and third baseman Melvin Dorta struck out to end the game.

Norfolk relief pitcher Bob McCrory threw two scoreless innings.

It was the first time that the Tides failed to score in a game this season.Bowie Baysox (AA)

Score: Trenton Thunder 7, Bowie Baysox 0 (Box score)

Recap: The Baysox suffered a second consecutive shutout in a 7-0 loss to Trenton. They were blanked, 8-0, in last night's game against the Thunder.

Bowie starting pitcher Troy Patton (6-2) gave up four runs (two earned) and seven hits in seven innings. The 23-year-old left-hander struck out seven batters and issued one walk in the loss.

Baysox shortstop Robert Valido was 1-for-2 with a double and a stolen base.

Center fielder Dave Krynzel, right fielder Ambiorix Concepcion, left fielder Joe Nowicki and catcher Adam Donachie each added a single for Bowie.

Frederick Keys (A)

Thursday night's game between the Keys and Red Sox was postponed due to rain. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday. The first game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m., and each matchup is scheduled for seven innings.

Tim Bascom will start the first game for the Keys, and Brian Matusz is set to take the mound in the nightcap.

Delmarva Shorebirds (A)

Recap: Starting pitcher Ryan O'Shea (4-2) tossed a complete game to lead the Shorebirds to a 2-1 victory over Lakewood in the first game of the doubleheader. The 23-year-old right-hander allowed one unearned run and five hits in seven innings.

Delmarva center fielder Xavier Avery was 1-for-3 with an RBI, and shortstop Garabez Rosa also added a hit and an RBI.

Catcher Luis Bernardo and third baseman Tyler Kolodny each scored a run for the Shorebirds.
