Today's game recaps -- June 11

The Triple-A Norfolk Tides fell to the Indianapolis Indians, and the Double-A Bowie Baysox were edged by the Connecticut Defenders.

Inclement weather forced the matchup between the Single-A Frederick Keys and Lynchburg Hillcats to be canceled. The Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds lost to the Lake County Captains.

Norfolk Tides (AAA)

Score: Indianapolis Indians 9, Norfolk Tides 7 (Box score)

Recap: Relief pitcher Chris Ray (0-1) allowed two runs and three hits in two innings, and the Tides suffered a 9-7 loss against Indianapolis. The 27-year-old right-hander collected three strikeouts and walked two batters.

Norfolk third baseman Brandon Pinckney was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored, while infielder Jolbert Cabrera and catcher Chad Moeller each added two hits, an RBI and two runs scored.

Second baseman Melvin Dorta had two RBIs for the Tides, and right fielder Jeff Fiorentino picked up two hits.

Tides starting pitcher Radhames Liz gave up six runs and seven hits in four innings, but he didn't factor in the decision. Bowie Baysox (AA)

Recap: Starting pitcher John Mariotti only gave up two runs and four hits in seven innings, but the Baysox fell to Connecticut, 2-1. The 24-year-old right-hander struck out four batters and issued two walks.

Bowie first baseman Brandon Snyder was 2-for-4 with an RBI double. The 22-year-old infielder raised his batting average to .355 in 52 games for the Baysox this season. He leads the Eastern League with 45 RBIs.

Second baseman Miguel Abreu added two hits, including a double, for the Baysox, and shortstop Robert Valido scored the team's only run.

Baysox relief pitcher Ryohei Tanaka tossed a scoreless inning. It was his second appearance since joining the team earlier this month.

Frederick Keys (A)

With no score after four innings, the game between the Keys and Hillcats was canceled due to rain. The two teams won't make up the matchup because it is their final meeting in the first half of the season.

Frederick returns to Harry Grove Stadium for a doubleheader against the Potomac Nationals on Friday night. The first game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. Pedro Beato and Chris Salberg are listed as the two starting pitchers.

Delmarva Shorebirds (A)

Score: Lake County Captains 3, Delmarva Shorebirds 2 (Box score)

Recap: Starting pitcher Oliver Drake (2-3) allowed two runs (one earned) and four hits in six innings, and the Shorebirds suffered a 3-2 loss to Lake County. The 22-year-old right-hander struck out five batters and issued one walk.

Delmarva right fielder Ronnie Welty was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and designated hitter Elvin Polanco collected two RBIs.

Shortstop Greg Miclat committed his 16th error of the season for the Shorebirds. The 21-year-old infielder was 0-for-3 with a run scored, and he was also caught stealing in the game.
