The Unit hits 300

Congratulations to San Francisco Giants pitcher Randy Johnson, who waited out last night's postponement at Nationals Park and a short delay this afternoon before pitching very well on the way to his 300th career victory.

There's no question the Big Unit will gain induction into the Hall of Fame. He has a trophy case full of Cy Young Awards, two no-hitters (including a perfect game) and is second on the all-time strikeout list behind Nolan Ryan, along with being one of only 24 pitchers to reach the 300-win milestone.

What does remain very much open to debate is whether he'll be the last major league pitcher to win 300-or-more games. If you want to weigh in on that subject, feel free to leave a comment right here on the blog or vote in the Sun poll here.

Oh, and while I'm shamelessly shilling for the Web site, feel free to check out the "News item" column that I wrote today and just went up on the sports front this evening.
