Baysox starting pitcher Tim Bascom struck out Reading center fielder Quintin Berry to start the game, and Phillies right fielder Gus Milner singled to right field.

After Reading left fielder Michael Taylor grounded into a fielder's choice, Bascom struck out Phillies designated hitter Jeremy Slayden to end the top of the first inning.

Baysox third baseman Jonathan Tucker got hit to lead off the bottom of the first inning, and he moved to second base on a groundout by shortstop Robert Valido.

Tucker headed to third base on a fly ball to center field by designated hitter Brandon Snyder, but he was stranded when first baseman Mike Costanzo grounded out to end the bottom of the first.

In the top of the second, Reading third baseman Neil Sellers was the leadoff hitter, and he popped out to the catcher. Phillies first baseman Brian Stavisky walked and shortstop Ozzie Chavez struck out looking.

Finally, Reading second baseman Brad Harman flied out to end the top of the second. Baysox center fielder Dave Krynzel and Valido ran into each other on the play, but Krynzel made the catch.

Through two innings, Bascom has thrown 20 of his 33 pitches for strikes.

Bowie second baseman Miguel Abreu grounded out to shortstop to begin the bottom of the second. Krynzel struck out looking, and right fielder Ambiorix Concepcion singled up the middle for the Baysox. With left fielder Joe Nowicki batting, Concepcion broke early for second base and was caught stealing.
