Keys' Angle earns Carolina League weekly honors

The Carolina League named Single-A Frederick Keys center fielder Matt Angle as the Player of the Week for his performance from June 8 to 14.

The 23-year-old outfielder batted .417 (10-for-24) with five RBIs and three runs scored during the period. Angle, who serves as Frederick's leadoff hitter, struggled at the beginning of the season. He batted. 203 in April, but has since hit .348 in his past 36 games.

Angle ranks seventh in the Carolina League with a .297 batting average, and he is fourth in the league in stolen bases (18). On three different occasions this season, Angle collected at least four hits in a game.

The Orioles selected Angle in the seventh round of the 2007 MLB draft out of Ohio State.
