Three Eastern League teams, including the Double-A Bowie Baysox, are working together with the Alliance for Consumer Education (ACE) for the "Striking Out Inhalant Abuse" program.
The Baysox will welcome students to Prince George's Stadium for the Inhalant Abuse Night during their game against the Harrisburg Senators on Wednesday, July 8, at 7:05 p.m.
The Trenton Thunder and New Britain Rock Cats are planning similar events.
"The Baysox look forward to putting aside our competitive differences with the Thunder and the Rock Cats for this program," Baysox general manager Brian Shallcross said in a statement. "Hopefully, by working together, we can have a greater positive impact on the youth that mean so much to our communities."
Nationwide, children abuse more than 1,400 everyday products, according to a statement. With the cooperation of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), Louie, the Baysox mascot, and team representatives will visit dozens of local schools to discuss inhalant abuse.
