The Triple-A Norfolk Tides defeated the Buffalo Bisons, and the Single-A Frederick Keys won against the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

The Double-A Bowie Baysox, however, lost to the Erie SeaWolves, and the game between the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds and Greensboro Grasshoppers was suspended after the first inning.


Before today's game, the Keys activated right-handed pitcher Cliff Flagello from the temporary inactive list and transferred left-hander Jake Stevens to the roster of the short-season Single-A Aberdeen IronBirds.

Norfolk Tides (AAA)

Recap: Right fielder Oscar Salazar hit his fifth home run of the season in the eighth inning -- a two-run shot against Bisons relief pitcher Carlos Muniz -- and the Tides grabbed a 5-1 victory.

Norfolk designated hitter Matt Wieters was 2-for-4 with a two-run double and two runs scored. Center fielder Justin Christian and second baseman Justin Turner each added a hit and a run scored for the Tides.

Starting pitcher Jason Berken (2-0) tossed five scoreless innings in his first game since returning from the disabled list for Norfolk. The 25-year-old right-hander scattered four hits, and he hasn't allowed any runs in 15 innings since being called up to Triple-A.

Tides relief pitcher Jim Miller retired all three batters he faced to pick up his sixth save of the season.

Wieters is now batting .296 with one home run and 12 RBIs in 23 games this season.Bowie Baysox (AA)

Recap: First baseman Brandon Snyder was 3-for-4 with a double and a solo home run, but the Baysox suffered a 7-5 loss to Erie. The 22-year-old infielder is batting .355 with four home runs, 11 doubles and 19 RBIs in 25 games for Bowie.

Baysox catcher Adam Donachie also hit a home run, and right fielder Ambiorix Concepcion added two RBIs. Second baseman Paco Figueroa was 2-for-4 with two run scored for Bowie, while third baseman Miguel Abreu had one RBI.

Bowie starting pitcher John Mariotti gave up four runs and six hits in five innings during his Double-A debut, but he didn't factor in the decision. The 24-year-old right-hander walked four batters and collected four strikeouts in the game.

Relief pitcher Jim Hoey (0-2) suffered the loss for the Baysox after allowing two unearned runs and three hits in one inning.

Frederick Keys (A)

Score: Frederick Keys 7, Wilmington Blue Rocks 6 (Box score)

Recap: David Cash, who entered the game as a pinch runner in the seventh inning, delivered with a two-run single in the ninth to give the Keys a walkoff victory, 7-6, over Wilmington at Harry Grove Stadium.

Frederick left fielder Kraig Binick and first baseman Brandon Waring each collected three hits, while third baseman Tyler Henson was 2-for-4 with a double.


Keys starting pitcher Pedro Beato allowed three runs and seven hits in five innings. Relief pitcher Chris Salberg (1-2) earned the victory for Frederick after tossing a scoreless inning.

Center fielder Matt Angle was 0-for-1 with four walks and two runs scored for the Keys.

Delmarva Shorebirds (A)

Tonight's game between Delmarva and Greensboro was suspended in the second inning due to rain. The two teams will continue the matchup Sunday at 2:05 p.m., and it is scheduled for a full nine innings. The Shorebirds and Grasshoppers will play a seven-inning game -- the one originally planned for Sunday -- following the completion of the first meeting.
