I hope everyone is enjoying Memorial Day, whatever it is that you are doing today.

Don't forget the true meaning of the holiday while you're taking part in the cookout or getting a tan at the beach. Remember to thank the military personnel around you for their contributions to our country.

The Triple-A Norfolk Tides hit the road to play the Toledo Mud Hens, while the Double-A Bowie Baysox wrap up their series against the Harrisburg Senators.

The Single-A Frederick Keys are idle, and the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds play the Kannapolis Intimidators.

Norfolk Tides (AAA)

Opponent

at Toledo Mud Hens (5 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Norfolk: Chris Waters (4-2, 4.74 ERA)

Toledo: Eddie Bonine (0-1, 1.97 ERA)

Notes

* It's going to be interesting if Waters makes tonight's start for the Tides. It's also going to be interesting to see how long he pitches. Waters is likely to pitch, which means that Jason Berken probably will be called up to start tomorrow's game for the Orioles against the Toronto Blue Jays at Camden Yards. Waters could make the jump to the major leagues if his outing is cut short tonight and the Orioles need a replacement for Koji Uehara on Thursday, which seems like a good possibility. Waters is 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in 20 innings during his past three starts for the Tides.

* After yesterday's loss to the Rochester Red Wings, the Tides fell to 28-14 this season. Norfolk still leads the International League South Division by 1 1/2 games over the Durham Bulls (27-16). Toledo (17-26) is in last place in the West Division, trailing the first-place Columbus Clippers (22-22) by 4 1/2 games.Bowie Baysox (AA)

Opponent

at Harrisburg Senators (7 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Bowie: Sean Gleason (1-3, 7.67 ERA)

Harrisburg: Erik Arnesen (2-0, 2.08 ERA)

Notes

* Gleason allowed six runs (five earned) and seven hits in five innings against the Altoona Curve in his last start on May 20, but the Baysox rallied for an 8-7 victory. The 23-year-old right-hander has given up at least four earned runs in five of his six starts since being promoted to Bowie in the middle of April. Opponents are batting .349 against Gleason in 29 1/3 innings at the Double-A level.

* The Baysox won 10 out of their past 14 games, allowing them to climb back above .500 (21-20) this season. Bowie, however, remains in fourth place in the Eastern League Southern Division. The Baysox are nine games behind the first-place Akron Aeros (30-11), while Harrisburg (11-29) is in last place in the division.

Delmarva Shorebirds (A)

Opponent

Kannapolis Intimidators (7:05 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Delmarva: Nathan Moreau (0-1, 8.68 ERA)

Kannapolis: Charles Leesman (4-2, 2.79 ERA)

Notes

* In three starts so far in 2009, Moreau has struggled for the Shorebirds. The 22-year-old left-hander gave up seven runs (six earned) and seven hits in 2 1/3 innings against the West Virginia Power on May 14, but he didn't pitch as bad against the Hickory Crawdads in his last start on May 20. Moreau allowed two runs and six hits in four innings, and he collected seven strikeouts in Delmarva's 6-2 win.

* Luke Scott will play in left field tonight and bat third in the lineup for the Shorebirds as part of his minor league rehabilitation assignment. Scott is expected to serve as the designated hitter in tomorrow's game at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

* With five consecutive victories, the Shorebirds are within one game of first place in the South Atlantic League Northern Division. Delmarva (22-18) is in third place, while the Lakewood BlueClaws (24-18) lead the division, and the Greensboro Grasshoppers (24-19) are in second. Kannapolis (20-23) is in sixth place in the division, trailing Lakewood by 4 1/2 games.
