Norfolk Tides (AAA)

Opponent

at Buffalo Bisons (1:05 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Norfolk: Rich Hill (0-1, 2.45 ERA)

Buffalo: Nelson Figueroa (0-2, 2.57 ERA)

Notes

* Today will be Hill's third rehab start with the Tides and fourth overall as he works his way back to the major leagues. The 29-year-old left-hander pitched four scoreless innings in his last game against the Columbus Clippers on May 5. Hill only allowed two hits, but he also walked five batters in Norfolk's 5-0 victory.

* Figueroa has lost back-to-back games for Buffalo since returning to the minor leagues. The 34-year-old right-hander also suffered a loss in a spot start for the New York Mets on April 19 against the Milwaukee Brewers. Figueroa allowed three runs and five hits in six innings, and the Mets lost, 4-2.

* The Tides are still in first place in the International League South Division with a 17-11 record. Norfolk holds a 1/2-game lead over the Durham Bulls (17-12) in the division. The Bisons (6-21) are 16 games behind the first-place Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (23-6) in the North Division. Buffalo is in last place in the six-team division, trailing the fifth-place Lehigh Valley IronPigs (13-15) by 6 1/2 games.Bowie Baysox (AA)

Opponent

at Erie SeaWolves (1:05 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Bowie: TBA

Erie: Jonah Nickerson (0-2, 7.66 ERA)

Notes

* Due to the high number of rainouts recently, the Baysox have yet to announce a starting pitcher for today's game in Erie. Bowie will likely turn to a relief pitcher to make a spot start, with Fredy Deza, Ryan Keefer or Ryan Rodriguez as the most likely candidate.

* Nickerson is 0-1 with a 10.00 ERA in two starts against the Baysox in 2009. The 24-year-old right-hander is scheduled to make his sixth start so far this season, and he hasn't faced anyone except Bowie and the Altoona Curve. Nickerson gave up three runs and six hits in six innings against the Curve in his last start on May 3.

* After last night's loss, the Baysox dropped to 11-15 this season. Bowie is in fourth place in the Eastern League Southern Division, trailing the Akron Aeros (21-5) by 10 games. The SeaWolves (17-10) are in second place in the division, 4 1/2 games behind Akron.

Frederick Keys (A)

Opponent

Wilmington Blue Rocks (2 p.m.)

Probable pitchers

Frederick: Zach Britton (0-1, 1.82 ERA)

Wilmington: Ray Liotta (1-2, 5.89 ERA)

Notes

* Britton has been very impressive in his first five starts for the Keys, but the 21-year-old left-hander is still searching for his first victory of the season. He allowed one unearned run and one hit in five innings against the Winston-Salem Dash in the first half of a doubleheader on May 5. Britton struck out seven batters and issued three walks in the Keys' 4-3 loss. He has struggled with his control a little bit -- 15 walks in 24 2/3 innings -- but he is second on the team behind Brian Matusz with 27 strikeouts.

* To answer everyone's first question -- according to his biography on the Blue Rocks' Web site, Liotta is a distant cousin of the actor with the same name. The 26-year-old left-hander is 1-2 with a 5.89 ERA in six appearances (five starts) this season. Liotta allowed four runs (two earned) and seven hits in 4 1/3 innings against the Potomac Nationals on May 5.

* With last night's victory, the Keys improved to 11-18 this season. Frederick remains eight games behind the Lynchburg Hillcats (19-10) in the Carolina League Northern Division. Wilmington (13-16) is in third place, trailing the division-leading Hillcats by six games.

Delmarva Shorebirds (A)

Opponent

Doubleheader vs. Greensboro Grasshoppers (2:05 p.m.)

Game 1: Probable pitchers

Delmarva: Colin Allen (0-2, 4.91 ERA)

Greensboro: Bryan Evans (1-0, 3.33 ERA)

Game 2: Probable pitchers

Delmarva: Rick Zagone (2-2, 1.95 ERA)

Greensboro: Kyle Kaminska (3-1, 4.00 ERA)

Notes

* The first game is actually a suspended matchup from last night. The Shorebirds and Grasshoppers will resume the meeting in the second inning. Delmarva is scheduled to begin the suspended game with right-hander Colin Allen on the mound and right-handed pitcher Bryan Evans will start for Greensboro.

* In his last start, Zagone suffered the loss after allowing two runs and six hits in six innings against the Grasshoppers on May 3. The 22-year-old left-hander struck out seven batters and issued two walks in the Shorebirds' 2-1 defeat. Opponents are hitting .172 in five games against Zagone this season.

* Kaminska outdueled Zagone in his last start on May 3. The 20-year-old right-hander earned the win after giving up one run and four hits in six innings. Kaminska collected seven strikeouts and didn't allow any walks. In five starts in 2009, he has 28 strikeouts in 27 innings for Greensboro.

* Since last night's game was suspended between the two teams, the Shorebirds (15-10) remain in first place in the South Atlantic League Northern Division. Greensboro is in second place, trailing Delmarva by 1/2 game, with a 16-12 record.
