Recap: Gwinnett scored four runs in the top of the first inning against Tides starting pitcher Chris Waters (2-2) and never looked back. The Braves beat Norfolk, 8-2, at Harbor Park.
Waters allowed five runs (four earned) and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings. The 28-year-old left-hander walked four hitters and collected one strikeout.
Norfolk first baseman Oscar Salazar extended his hitting streak to 14 games with a double. Center fielder Justin Christian added two hits for the Tides, and catcher Matt Wieters was 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Bowie relief pitcher Chad Thall was charged with two runs and two hits in 1 1/3 innings, while Ryan Rodriguez gave up the winning run after getting two outs in the 11th.

Designated hitter Joe Mahoney collected two hits and a run scored for the Shorebirds, while left fielder Kyle Hudson was 1-for-3 with a run scored. Mahoney picked up two stolen bases in the game, while Hudson successfully stole three times.
