Rainouts and minor league transactions

All four affiliates in the Orioles' minor league system were rained out, so there won't be any game recaps.

In addition to the four rainouts, a few minor league transactions need to be reported. Jason Berken was officially transferred from the Double-A Bowie Baysox to the Triple-A Norfolk Tides, while relief pitcher Pat Egan joins the Baysox from the Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds. Also, Baysox left-hander Ryan Rodriguez was placed on the temporary inactive list. The home opener for the Tides was postponed and no makeup date was announced. Norfolk will play one game Tuesday against the Charlotte Knights at 7:15 p.m. Berken will make his Triple-A debut for the Tides, while Wes Whisler gets the start for Charlotte.

As I mentioned earlier, the Baysox will play a doubleheader Tuesday at Prince George's Stadium against the Erie SeaWolves. The first game will start at 6:05 p.m., and each matchup is scheduled for seven innings. Jake Arrieta is expected to start the first game for the Baysox, while Baltimore native Jon Kibler will pitch for the SeaWolves. Bowie's Troy Patton and Erie's Alfredo Figaro are tentatively scheduled to pitch in the nightcap.

The Single-A Frederick Keys are also scheduled to play a doubleheader Tuesday after their series opener on the road against the Lynchburg Hillcats was postponed. Both games are scheduled for seven innings, and the starting time of the first game is 6:05 p.m. in Lynchburg. Pedro Beato is expected to start the opener for Frederick, but it's unclear who will start the second game.

Due to the inclement weather, a third Orioles affiliate will play a doubleheader Tuesday when the Shorebirds host the Hagerstown Suns. The first game is scheduled to start at 5:35 p.m., and both games are slated for seven innings. No word on the pitching matchups, but I'm assuming Rick Zagone will start one of the two games for the Shorebirds.
