iPods, and DVD's. Is it christmas? No, we're just exchanging gifts with the Queen!

A lot has been made of the 'gift giving' side of world leaders getting together. It's a big part of history.

A few weeks ago, there was a 'row' in the UK about the gift exchange between President Obama, and Prime Minister Brown  ... the PM selecting a gift that hit the trifecta, a pen holder made from the timber of the 19th century ship HMS Gannet, a ship that helped stop the slave trade, it was also the sister ship to the HMS Resolute. The Resolute provided the wood for the oval office desk, the one that's been in the White House since 1880.

Sweet gift!

The President gave the Prime Minister a gift box of 25 classic American movies, including but not limited to Raging Bull, Gone with The wind, and Star Wars Episode IV.

Sweet ... wait, what?

Now I didn't think much of this a month ago ... actually, i tried to put it out of my mind. I mean, we're in an economic crisis ... President Obama doesn't have time to think about the Prime Minister's gift! He gave him something. Gordon Brown refused a gift given to him by President Bush!  Maybe he's already lowered his expectations!

Meanwhile, the British media is personally offended by the gesture, but I figured things will get better when he meets the Queen right? Well ... The Obama's had a private audience with her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, and presented her with an i-Pod. I know what you're thinking ... but it was hooked up with footage from her visit to the US in 2007. Ignore the fact that she already owns an i-Pod she bought in 2005.

Ok ... let me help out. Somebody on the Obama staff is droppin' the ball here! A quick glance of their Wikipedia profiles, and I think we could hook up Gordo, and Liz with great gifts!

The Prime minister shouldn't be that hard to figure out ... I'm sure he appreciates sports, I would hand over an authentic Scotland National Team Rugby Jersey by Canterbury ... he looks like he takes a 2x,  and The limited edition, Rhino Records Heavy Metal Box set. I understand the PM is a metal head. Sounds better than that DVD set doesn't it? And with this 'down turned' economy the price is just right, 2 gifts for just under $200!

Now, it's your turn. What would you give her majesty Queen Elizabeth II as a gift? This ones a bit harder. She gave up a silver framed photo of herself, and her husband Prince Philip. Choose wisely ... the British are watching!
