Keith Olbermann says goodbye to his mom, the baseball fan

Whatever you think of Keith Olbermann, the political commentator, there is no denying that he's been an important voice in the world of sports and sports journalism over the last two decades. Olbermann has been a passionate baseball fan his entire life, but unlike so many boys who fall in love with the game because they grow up playing catch with their fathers, Olbermann's mom was the reason he fell in love with baseball. She spent countless afternoons with her son at Yankee Stadium, and even acheived a little bit of infamy when New York second baseman Chuck Knoblauch drilled her with an errant throw during his late-career meltdown.

Marie Olbermann passed away this weekend after a brief battle with cancer. Her son offered up a touching tribute to her love of baseball yesterday that, even if you can't stand Olbermann or the Yankees, is worth watching as an ode to mom's everywhere who are sports fans.
