The Orioles scored three runs on three extra-base in the top of the first inning. Ryan Freel hit a long double off Mets starter Brandon Knight to open the game and Luis Montanez pulled a one-out double down the left field line for the first run of the game. Ty Wigginton followed with his first home run of the Grapefruit League season. Oscar Salazar also had a hit in the inning.

Koji Uehara had his first bad inning of the spring in the second, giving up three runs on three hits and two walks. The plan was for him to pitch four innings and work more in the bullpen if he didn't reach his pitch limit, but he came up way short.
