Talked to Koji Uehara (through his interpreter) a few minutes ago at the Orioles training complex and he said that he was feeling the stiff hamstring during yesterday's difficult performance against the New York Mets at Port St. Lucie.

Uehara would not say when he first injured the hamstring, but indicated that he does not think it's a serious problem. Manager Dave Trembley told the reporters a few minutes later in Fort Myers that it happened covering first base during the game.

Uehara said he'll shut down his conditioning program for at least a week and will not make his next scheduled exhibition appearance.

"It's not really pain,'' he said. "It's just a little stiffness...a light strain. We'll just wait for a week and see if it improves."

Koji said that though he did have the problem during yesterday's start, he does not attribute his so-so performance to the injury. He still says he was just having trouble with the command of some of his pitches. He made no mention the problem when he talked to reporters after the game.

Dave Trembley just told the reporters in Fort Myers that he'll take a few days off. Koji said that he might miss as many as two Grapefruit League appearances, but is not concerned about it impacting the regular season.
