Orioles pitching prospect Brad Bergesen was very impressive through three scoreless innings against the Red Sox. He gave up just four hits, walked none and struck out three. He took Brad Hennessey's place in the spring rotation temporarily, but he could be making a case to stay.

Manager Dave Trembley still considers him among the young pitchers who were ticketed for the minors before the start of camp, but Bergesen is the one from that group who could break through if the need arises because of his good command and maturity.

Scoring update: The Orioles just took the lead in the bottom of the third. Gregg Zaun walked, Chris Gomez doubled and Brian Roberts drove home the first run of the game with a sacrifice fly.
