You may have seen that Nolan Smith is out indefinitely after suffering a mild concussion when he crashed into Maryland forward Dave Neal's pick in the backcourt Wednesday night.
The Duke Web site quoted Coach K:
"Nolan's condition improved overnight, but we are going to proceed cautiously," said head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "Our medical staff will continue to monitor his progress and he will return to the rotation when he is fully healthy. Nolan is an important part of this team and we are looking forward to his return."
Smith is a local guy -- from Prince George's County -- who knows Adrian Bowie and other Terps.
Maryland, by the way, never had a shot at getting him to come to College Park. He selected Duke largely because of former Blue Devils guard Johnny Dawkins. Dawkins was a close friend and former NBA teammate of Smith's late father, Derek.
Smith is averaging 8.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
