In her run of performances this week, Jennifer Hudson stuck to her gospel roots and sung "Holly Holy," one of Neil Diamond's favorite songs that has spiritual aspirations and was influenced by gospel music.
Hudson was one of several performers at a Los Angeles event honoring Diamond's charitable work and his career of 50 years.
A product of the black church who sang in the gospel choir in her early aspirations as a singer, Hudson this week showed how the gospel sound influences her performances even though she has chosen a secular-career path.

Hudson will sing again tonight at an event honoring music exec Clive Davis and tomorrow at The Grammys, 8 p.m. on CBS.
