Want to take a cruise? Stop dillydallying. Reserve in advance and Carnival Cruise Lines will give you a price break. Travelers who book a six-night (or longer) Carnival cruise at least five months in advance will get a special discounted fare.

Carnival says Early Saver fares will offer up to 25% off the best available rates. Now, keep in mind that for cruises rates generally go down as the date gets closer. They don't generally like to sail with the ship half-full. So this isn't exactly a no-brainer savings meaning that yo procrastinators may be able to get a better deal at some point.

But Carnival knows that, so they're also offering price protection. If the fare drops after you book, the cruise line will refund the difference in the form of a shipboard credit. Seems fair to me. And remember, beginning this spring, Carnival is coming to Baltimore - The Pride ship - for 6-night and 7-night sailings to the Caribbean and the Bahamas. Carnival is also offering free upgrades on virtually all of its cruises. Sounds like fun.
