Dodgers manager Joe Torre could be forgiven if he wanted to gloat a little bit over his team's advancement into the National League Championship Series. He was, after all, forced out of New York because he wouldn't accept a one-year deal from the Yankees to prove he was still hungry enough to get them back to the World Series.

He appears to be hungry enough to get the Dodgers there, but he passed again on the opportunity to take any shots at the Yankees in his postgame comments last night. Sports Illustrated's Tom Verducci hung a fat curveball in front of him with a question about leaving the Bronx after 12 straight playoff appearances, but this is all he would say:

"You never know what's going to happen when you leave the nest, but these guys played very very well and it's about as gratifying as it gets."
